Thistle & Poppy is a family concept shop on 15th Ave E in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, offering fun design goods for all ages.

Open position: Retail Associate

We’re currently hiring for weekend coverage during the winter months.

Pay

Starting at $22/hour, depending on experience.

Scheduling & availability

  • Weekend-focused role: Two weekend shifts per week. Weekend shifts may be Saturday (morning or afternoon) and Sunday afternoon.

What you’ll do

  • Offer warm, attentive customer service and thoughtful product recommendations
  • Support customers with children’s and adult clothing sizing and fit (training provided)
  • Run the sales floor and checkout process independently
  • Help keep the shop organized, welcoming, and well cared for, including light cleaning
  • Restock merchandise and assist with light merchandising updates
  • Open and close the shop and complete daily tasks as needed

  • Friendly, approachable, and comfortable engaging with customers of all ages
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during solo shifts
  • Calm, attentive, and thoughtful in busier moments
  • Interested in small business retail, design, and indie brands
  • Comfortable using basic technology (training provided)
  • Comfortable with the physical aspects of retail work, including moving throughout the shop, assisting with stocking tasks, and occasional lifting of boxes with assistance as needed.

Additional opportunities

In addition to this retail role, we will also be hiring for a few part-time growth positions this winter, including support for our vintage program and content/social media work.

These roles will be posted separately soon and have different responsibilities and schedules than our retail position.

Optional add-on hours:
For applicants who are primarily interested in retail but also have experience or interest in vintage, resale, photography, or content creation, there may be an opportunity to combine retail shifts with a small number of additional hours in one of these areas.
