The season has changed again and for Snap Point picture framer's that is a great excuse to frame some new photos, change the look of your frames with new trims, and if you want to get ultra crafty quick and easy DIY tutorial can bring an even more flair to your frameage.
Transforming your picture frame into a watermelon frame is easier than you think, and even better it doesn't damage the frame! So you can enjoy the festivities now and when fall rolls around again, just peel the homemade stickers back off and you have your old frame back!
Obviously to get the watermelon look I started with a Snap Point Picture Frame in watermelon-like colors - a green base with a magenta trim. But you could apply this technique to any color and style to make your own look too! AS I was making this one, I immediately thought ladybugs! Keep your eyes peeled for a follow up post!
So all you need is some paint, a brush, and some wax paper.
I used a flat finish, although the stickies would probably stick better with an eggshell or gloss finish.
The next step is to simply dot a whole bunch of dots on the wax paper. Try to get them in the seed (or whatever desired shape you choose) Make sure the paint is laid on thick so they hold up well. Once you finish dotting your wax paper up, set it aside and wait for it to dry completely.
Once they're dry all we have to do is peel and stick! Now there is no adhesive on them so depending on what kind of paint you use will really determine if they need a little something extra to stick. Some good 'ole fashion spit on the backs will work, but i just used a little bit of furniture wax on the trim itself and everything stuck no problem
Stick the dots all over the place and voila! You've got a refreshingly delightful summer picture frame!
